Designing Sanaa, a handicrafts marketplace
A marketplace for handmade goods that brings makers and home businesses together with people looking for a piece made by hand. Buyers need to know who made a piece and how, and to order it in a colour or pattern they choose; makers need a shop where they can show their work with ease.

01The challenge
Every handmade piece has a story.

02Scope and our team’s role
From browsing to a custom order.
- 01The buyer’s journey, from the splash screen to tracking the order
- 02The product page with its maker’s story and buyers’ reviews
- 03Custom orders in the chat with the maker
- 04The maker’s page, and favourites in the buyer’s account
- 05Adding a new product, on the maker’s side
03How we delivered it
The maker is present on every screen.
Our team kept the maker present across the whole purchase: their story on the product page, their own page with their products and reviews, and a chat where the buyer asks for a piece in a colour or pattern they choose, then follows it being made step by step. It chose warm earth tones that bring the product photographs forward. All names, numbers and brands in the screens are illustrative.
